Healthcare Leaders - Raise the Energy!
If culture eats strategy for breakfast, then ⚡ Energy ⚡ drinks culture for coffee, brushes its teeth with strategy, and poops out policy — then it goes back for seconds. ⚡ Energy ⚡ is the start of everything we do.
I've met leaders in all industries whose energy was on life support and their energy labs were flatlining. Defeated and soul crushing, their teams reflected their negative, fixed mindsets. Have you worked with anyone like this?
Healthcare leaders need to cultivate energy in all they do because our employees have their energy tapped every day:
🧡 They give their time
🧡 They care for others
🧡 It’s a physical job
🧡 The computer systems are not easy to use
🧡 The healthcare system can be convoluted and confusing
🧡 Patients get frustrated
🧡 Travel can be involved
🧡 Schedules are busy
🧡 Emotions are easily drained
🧡 A lot is at stake — vision, body functions, even life itself
🧡 Change in the marketplace is frequent with buyouts, mergers and downsizing
🧡 Pandemics put our own lives at risk
Being a healthcare provider or employee is difficult.
I'm not a woo-woo vibration-vortex-chi-voodoo type of person. But this idea of energy is the best way I can find to describe what gives us the juice to keep driving forward. And leaders are the chief energy officers of themselves and their team.
A good leader makes it their top priority to cultivate positive energy at work. Make work a place that puts energy INTO their buckets, not one that TAKES energy out of it.
Are you on board? What strategies do YOU use to maintain and raise the energy in your team?
